Join Photographique and Patrick Luna for an entry level Darkroom class in Deep Ellum.
9:30am - 2:30pm with a 30 minute break. Please bring your lunch or enjoy nearby Murray St. Coffee or AllGoodCafe.

This workshop is for those who have wanted to learn the essentials about the black and white printing process. Bring your previously processed film (black and white negatives). Film processing will not be apart of this workshop. Paper and chemicals will be provided.
About Patrick Luna:
Beginning in the 1980s, Patrick began to shoot with black and white film and print his own photographs in a traditional wet chemistry darkroom on silver gelatin photographic paper. Patrick has built four personal darkrooms to continue his work while analog photography resources have been challenged by digital.
Patrick’s first series of photographs titled Lands and Buildings consisted of images from across the country which revealed his wonder of built spaces, their connection with nature, and the cultural responses surrounding them. That inspiration and curiosity continues to shape his photography.
“I’m captured by the quality of film, its grain and texture, and by the care and creativity of making a silver print in a darkroom. I see in black and white. By that I mean, when I shoot on my camera, the shapes and lights and darks attach to what I sense and feel. Once the moment is caught on film, it becomes both a remembrance and a new understanding to be revealed in a silver print. For me, a black and white photograph provides a hint for the brain, which fills in the blanks, to conjure each of our imaginations. A silver print is handmade, each one is unique, and it can be stunning. I can’t stop chasing that.” Patrick’s ongoing journey in making silver prints began with a lesson in a darkroom rental space.
